Started 9:00 o’clock in the morning and finished about 5:00 afternoon, as usual we have been divided into two groups.
Firstly we have been briefed about the language institute and then given a paper called “Self assessment grid “, which was gridded into A1, A2, B1, B2, C1,C2, from the left to right respectively, we were given about 10 minutes to read the paper and evaluate our self before we sit for the language placement test. The placement test took almost 40 min to 1 hr, it consisted of two different section “Listening and Reading”, eventually student printed their result and compared it with what they had in mind. some result were almost the same and some had significant difference. we were explained that those who achieved almost the same or higher have had a high self confidence, and those who achieved lower score, it might be an alert for them to discover their weakness, & etc. More over we were informed about the activities conducted under the language department, such as classes for speaking, writing, body language and etc. We have been told about the capacity of the classes and asked to apply before 14 Oct. Several advice has been given regarding setting learning goal and etc. Handout such as EUROPEAN LANGUAGE PORTFOLIO , CHECK LIST has been received as well thus individuals will be able to do the self-assessment. In the second part of the day we have been told how to overcome our question during our study in bachelor and master & to whom we need to refer to. Scientific writing has been explained and advice regarding using proper vocabulary in German language has been highlighted as well. We were involved in additional activities such as managing to create a team in order to propose a model in our class. ” Many photos has been taken as well”
